Diammonium ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) is an analytical agent for the detection of carbon disulphide in a sample. It is prepared by the reaction of ethylene diamine with carbon disulphide to produce a complex sulfur compound. The redox potential of Diammonium ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) can be used as a measure of the presence of carbon disulphide in a sample. A detectable concentration of Diammonium ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) can be determined by subjecting it to bacterial strains, such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus epidermidis. It also has an inhibitory effect on rat liver microsomes and solid phase microextraction, which are important enzymes that regulate energy metabolism in animals.
