2-Amino-5-(4-pyridinyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole (APT) is a molecule that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro. It is an endogenous substance and is present in many tissues including the colon. APT has been shown to be damaging to DNA and inhibit the repair of dna damage. The constant concentration of APT can lead to atypical cancerous cells due to the suppression of cellular apoptosis.
