2-Amino-3-nitro-5-fluoropyridine (2ANF) is a synthetic compound that is biologically active. It is used as a pesticide and has the potential to be an anti-cancer drug due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis. 2ANF can be synthesized by diazotization of 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid and reduction reaction with zinc chloride in water. This fluorine containing compound can be nitrated with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid to generate other derivatives. The target product for this chemical is 2ANF because it has shown bioactivity and researched toxicity in animals. The bioactive compounds are the fluorine atom, nitro group, and pyridine ring which have been studied extensively.
