- 4-Amino-1,1,1-Trifluorobut-3-En-2-One
- (E)-4-amino-1,1,1-trifluoro-but-3-en-2-one
4-Amino-1,1,1-trifluoro-3-buten-2-one (4ATFB) is a chemical intermediate that is used in the synthesis of enol ethers. It can be prepared by the dehydrogenation of 1,1,1-trifluoroethanol using zinc chloride and trifluoroacetic anhydride or by the chlorination of acetaldehyde using trifluoromethyl chloride and pyridine. 4ATFB can also be synthesized from 2-aminoacetophenone and 2,2,2-trichloroethyl vinyl ether via a sequence of reactions involving oxidation with hydrogen peroxide. The reaction has been shown to give yields of up to 93%. 4ATFB can be detected by NMR analysis and has an NMR spectrum that is similar to those of other ethers.
