2-Amino-3-(5-fluoro-1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid is a molecule that has been found to have antibacterial activity, which can be due to its steric interactions with the bacterial cell membrane. It also has an effect on wild type and resistant mutants of E. coli and Salmonella, but not on other Gram negative bacteria.
