Guanabenz is a drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as centrally-acting alpha2 adrenergic agonists. It is used for the treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory conditions, infectious diseases, and cardiac disorders. Guanabenz has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in vivo and in vitro by inhibiting the proliferation of T cells and activation of macrophages. In addition, ganabenz has been shown to be effective as an adjunctive therapy to reduce inflammation in patients with congestive heart failure.
