N-Vinylacetamide is a water-soluble drug that belongs to the class of amides. It has been shown to have potential use as a cosmetic ingredient in moisturizing creams and lotions. N-Vinylacetamide is used as a monomer in the manufacture of polyvinyl acetate, which is used for its viscosity, water solubility, and resistance to oxidation. N-Vinylacetamide can be prepared by reacting an acid catalyst with an aromatic hydrocarbon and a halide. The reaction solution should be conditioned with a carbonyl group before using it in the synthesis of N-vinylacetamide. Biological function:
