N,N-Diethylphenethylamine (NDPEA) is a polymorphic and reactive chemical that can undergo a reaction with hydroxyl groups. It is a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine and other monoamine neurotransmitters. NDPEA has been shown to interact with 5-HT2 receptors and α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which may be responsible for its effects on the heart. This compound has been used as a fluorescent probe to study the binding of fluoroacetic acid in constant pressure conditions. The product is also used as a fluorescence probe for measuring monoamine neurotransmitters in the brain.
