N-(4-Methylpyridin-2-yl)acetamide is a chemical compound that stabilizes the cyclic form of ruthenium. It is synthesized by reacting 2-aminopyridine with chlorine in the presence of acidic imidazopyridine. The crystallographic structure of N-(4-methylpyridin-2-yl)acetamide has been determined by x-ray crystallography. This compound was used as a precursor for the synthesis of deuterated N-(4-methylpyridin-2-yl)acetamide, which was used to study the mechanism of nucleophilic reactions.
