1,1,1,5,5,5-Hexamethyl-3-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]-3-vinyltrisiloxane is a molecule that is used for cross-coupling reactions. It has been shown to be able to catalyze the hydrosilylation of styrene with ethylene oxide. This synthetic process was found to be reversible and could be performed in a variety of solvents. 1,1,1,5,5,5-Hexamethyl-3-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]-3-vinyltrisiloxane is also useful as a ligand in organometallic reactions because it can transfer its vinyl groups to metal complexes. Mechanistic studies have shown that this process occurs through the elimination of hydrogen gas and formation of an intermediate phosphine ligand. The final product is the hydrolysis of the phosphine ligand followed by dehydrogenation
