N,N-Dimethylhexanamide is a stable chemical that has been synthesized from the reaction of benzonitrile and hydroxyl groups. N,N-Dimethylhexanamide is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. It has a boiling point of 198°C and a melting point of -31°C. N,N-Dimethylhexanamide has an enhanced solubility in polar organic solvents when compared to other organic solvents. This compound also has a semipolar shape with one hydrogen atom on each side of the molecule. The functional groups present on this molecule are primary alcohols. These functional groups interact with other molecules through hydrogen bonding or covalent bonds.
