Boc-L-Methionine dicyclohexylamine salt, also known as Boc-L-Met, is a modified form of methionine that is used as a dietary supplement. It has been shown to exacerbate intestinal polypeptide and pentobarbital sodium induced ileus in rats. Boc-L-Met has also been shown to dilate the carotid artery in rabbits and to cause hypertrophy and dilating effects on the bronchi in guinea pigs. The vasodilatory effect of this compound may be due to its action on the vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) receptor.
