6-Bromopyridine-2-carboxaldehyde is a chromatographic and electron reduction probe that is used in the detection of water molecules. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase and can be used as a fluorescence probe for chloride ions. 6-Bromopyridine-2-carboxaldehyde has also been shown to exhibit metal chelating properties, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with metal ions. This compound can also be used as a cross coupling partner for organic synthesis reactions.
