2-[6-(Bis(Carboxymethyl)Amino)-5-[2-[6-(Bis(Carboxymethyl)Amino)-2,3-Difluorophenoxy]Ethoxy]-2-Benzofuran-1-Yl]-1,3-Oxazole-5-Carbox ylic Acid (CAF01) is a small molecule that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in animal models of stroke. It prevents neuronal death by inhibiting the release of glutamate and cytosolic calcium levels. CAF01 also inhibits intracellular calcium overload and mitochondrial membrane potential. It protects cells from ischemic brain damage by maintaining the function of neurons and ATP production. CAF01 is a high resistance compound with good bioavailability in vivo.br>
