N-1,3-Benzothiazol-2-yl-2-chloroacetamide (BTA) is a synthetic compound that has been used in analytical chemistry as a reagent for the determination of rhenium. It is also used as an electrophile in organic synthesis, especially in the formation of new types of annulated products and coordination compounds. BTA reacts with mercaptobenzimidazole to form a coordination product that can be identified by x-ray crystallography. The reaction products are characterized by x-ray data and product yields.
