2-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)ethanol is an inhibitor that binds to the active site of chymotrypsin. It has been evaluated experimentally as a ligand in docking experiments and found to be a potential candidate for inhibition. This compound may bind to the enzyme's active site by electrostatic interactions with basic residues such as arginine, lysine and histidine. 2-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)ethanol has been shown to inhibit the catalytic activity of catalysis of chymotrypsin.
