1-Benzyl-2-pyrrolidinone is a solvent that belongs to the group of organic solvents. It has a low boiling point and is used in the synthesis of amines, lactams, and other organic compounds. 1-Benzyl-2-pyrrolidinone has been shown to be a good nucleophile due to its high reactivity and stability. This compound can be used for sulfate fractionation by reacting with sodium sulfate anion to form an ionic complex. The resulting ionic liquid can then be separated from the organic solvent by adding hydrochloric acid as an acceptor.
