The isomeric [3-(benzyloxy)propyl]amine hydrochloride is an organic compound that has a potential use in biochemical research. It can be synthesized by reacting benzyl alcohol with ammonia and trifluoroacetic acid. The nmr spectra of this compound show signals at 3.4 ppm for the NH protons and 2.2 ppm for the CH protons. This molecule also has a heterocyclic structure with a triazole group, which gives it acidic properties. The isomeric [3-(benzyloxy)propyl]amine hydrochloride can exist as either a cis or trans isomer, based on the orientation of its two propyl groups around the central nitrogen atom.
