4,5-Dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl bromide is a reactive chemical that has been shown to inhibit the histone deacetylase (HDAC) activity. This inhibition of HDAC leads to an increase in the transcription of genes that are involved in cancer and inflammatory diseases. 4,5-Dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl bromide is synthesized by reacting 4,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde with 2 nitrochloride. The reaction is performed on a solid phase using a monoclonal antibody as the catalyst. The photochemical properties of 4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl bromide make it suitable for use as an analytical reagent.
