4-Bromostilbene is an experimentally determined organic compound with the chemical formula C5H5Br. It is a colorless solid that can be obtained by refluxing amines with terminal alkynes in the presence of a polyene such as chloride. 4-Bromostilbene has been shown to undergo stereoselective cross-coupling reactions with a number of different boron reagents and has been used to produce polyenes that have potential applications in radiation chemistry. This compound has also been used as a precursor to dehydroabietic acid, which is an important building block for natural product synthesis.
