4-tert-Butyl-2,6-diisopropylphenol (BOPP) is a multifunctional compound that is used in the production of polyvinyl chloride. It functions as an antioxidant and corrosion inhibitor, as well as a stabilizer for polymerization. BOPP is also used to prevent hematoma and emission during surgery, and has been shown to be effective in the prevention of methanol-induced corrosion in rat livers. This compound is used intramuscularly or intraperitoneally in Sprague-Dawley rats for glyceryl monostearate studies.
