2,2-Bis(chloromethyl)trimethylene bis(bis(2-chloroethyl)phosphate) is a monoisotopic magnetic particle. It is used to remove chlorine from wastewater. 2,2-Bis(chloromethyl)trimethylene bis(bis(2-chloroethyl)phosphate) reacts with hydrochloric acid and chlorine in the presence of phosphite to form a chlorinated phosphate ester that precipitates out. The reaction time is dependent on the concentration of reactants and the optimal reaction occurs when the solution pH is between 4 and 5.
