tert-Butyl 2-cyanopiperazine-1-carboxylate is an organic compound that is soluble in organic solvents. The tert-butyl 2-cyanopiperazine-1-carboxylate can then be isolated by distillation and purified by adding alkali to the solution, followed by extraction with ether. This compound is used as an intermediate in organic chemistry to produce drugs such as Prozac and Zantac.
