Descrizione

(S)-Bendroflumethiazide is a diuretic that belongs to the class of thiazide-type diuretics. It is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of hypertension and edema. The (S) form, which is the more potent form, has been shown to be more selective for potassium excretion than the (R) form. This drug has been shown to inhibit renal electrolyte transport by decreasing sodium reabsorption in the proximal tubule, leading to increased sodium excretion. The inhibition of sodium reabsorption can also lead to a decrease in potassium excretion.
