Descrizione

4-Benzyl albuterol is a racemic mixture of the optical isomers of albuterol. It can be used as an inhalant to treat bronchospasm and other breathing problems in people with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or emphysema. Albuterol belongs to the group of drugs called beta-agonists, which act on receptors in the lungs to produce bronchodilation. Optically active 4-benzyl albuterol has been shown to have higher potency than the racemic form. The tartaric acid component of this drug may be responsible for its antiplatelet activity.
