Descrizione

Butamifos is a chemical compound used as an insecticide. It inhibits the polymerase chain reaction by binding to actin filaments and inhibiting cell division. This inhibition of cell division prevents the formation of resistant mutants. Butamifos has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth in a model system when exposed to light, which may be due to its ability to bind cytochalasin B, a compound that inhibits actin polymerization. Butamifos also binds to mitochondria and blocks fatty acid oxidation, which is important for energy metabolism. The mechanism of this inhibition is not clear, but it may interfere with mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase. This drug has been shown to have potential as a drug target for cancer treatment and other diseases related to mitochondrial dysfunction.
