Descrizione

4-[N,N-Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]benzaldehyde (4-BHA) is a diacid that is used in the preparation of hydrazones. It has optical activity and can be used to label amino acids so they can be oriented in a polyester. 4-BHA is also used as a salt compound and dipole. 4-BHA has been shown to transport fluorescent compounds from nerve cells to tissues and structural formula provides evidence of its function as an acid transporter. 4-BHA is able to penetrate the blood brain barrier in rats at temperatures below 37°C and is present in nerve cells, suggesting that it may have some neurological effects.
