Boc-D-asparagine is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme glutamate carboxypeptidase II, which plays a role in the synthesis and degradation of proteins. It has been shown to inhibit cell growth and induce apoptosis in human colon cancer cells. Boc-D-asparagine has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the production of neurotransmitters such as glutamate, which may be useful for treating neurological disorders. The compound can be synthesized via a scalable, solid phase synthesis using commercially available reagents.
