Bisphenyl-1,1,2,2-tetraMethyldisilane is a silylating agent that reacts with biphenyl to produce a new compound with two phenyl groups. The reaction between bisphenyl-1,1,2,2-tetramethyldisilane and biphenyl occurs in the presence of light or radiation. The preparation of this compound can be achieved by reacting bisphenol-A with triethylamine in the presence of dichloromethane and tetramethyldisiloxane. Bisphenol A is then reacted with triethylamine in the presence of dichloromethane and tetramethyldisiloxane. This process can be used to prepare other compounds such as naphthalene derivatives. NMR spectroscopy has been used to study the binding properties of this chemical and it has been found that it binds to hydroxyl
