Boc-D-Leucinol is a research chemical that has been used for the production of heptanes. It is synthesized by the catalyzed dehydration of D-leucine using toluene and tetrabutylammonium chloride as the catalyst. The yield of this reaction is dependent on the phase-transfer catalyst, which can be either chloride or alcohols. Boc-D-Leucinol is used in organic process research for producing chemicals such as toluene and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
