Boc-Trp-Phe-OMe is an anti-leishmanial agent that belongs to the class of hydrophobic amino acid ester. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Leishmania amastigotes in vitro and in vivo. Boc-Trp-Phe-OMe binds to L-amino acid and inhibits protein synthesis. The mechanism of action is similar to other anti-leishmanial agents, such as pentamidine, by inhibiting parasite growth. Boc-Trp-Phe-OMe also has a cysteine residue that can be hydrolyzed by esterases, which may explain its activity against leishmaniasis.
