6-Bromo-3-chloro-1H-indazole is a benzimidazole that is an antagonist of the TRPV1 receptor. It is orally active, and has been shown to have analgesic properties in animal models. 6-Bromo-3-chloro-1H-indazole has potent antiallodynic effects in mice with chronic constriction injury, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), IL6, and TNFα. 6-Bromo-3-chloro-1H-indazole also inhibits the production of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in rats with adjuvant arthritis. 6BRMI has been evaluated for use as a potential treatment for osteoporosis.
