3-Butyn-1-amine hydrochloride (3BAH) is a long-term stable organic molecule that can be used in the production of solar cells. 3BAH is able to trap and transport charge carriers, which makes it an efficient hole transporter in solar cells. It also has been shown to have some perovskite properties, which may be useful for tunneling devices. 3BAH has been shown to have analogous properties with butylamine, with a covalent bond between the NH2 group and the C=C double bond. This compound does not absorb light at visible wavelengths and therefore does not contribute to the short circuit current of solar cells.
