BBE is a hydrophobic and lipophilic molecule that can be used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to be genotoxic, with significant cytotoxicity in human breast cancer cells at physiological levels. BBE also exhibits receptor activity and can inhibit the proliferation of bisphenol A-sensitive cells.
