2-Bromobenzamide is a divalent hydrocarbon that has been studied for its potential as a drug for the treatment of autoimmune, nervous system, and cancer diseases. It binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and blocks neurotransmission. This drug also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal protein S6 kinase, which is involved in the regulation of transcription factors. 2-Bromobenzamide has shown anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo against various types of cancer cells. The drug was tested on human lymphocytes and found to inhibit the growth of leukemia cells and breast cancer cells. 2-Bromobenzamide also inhibits chloride ion channels, which may be useful in treating infectious diseases such as malaria.
