n-Butyl phthalyl n-butyl glycoate is a covalent reagent that can be used for the preparation of cellulose. The optical properties of this sample preparation method, such as the use of metal hydroxides and water vapor, are dependent on the type of substrate film. This covalent reagent is genotoxic because it contains a metal ion that can bind to DNA in vitro. The polymerization reaction is also dependent on water permeability.
