3-Bromoisoxazole is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist that has been shown to reduce blood pressure in rats. It also has neuroprotective effects and inhibits cancer cell proliferation. 3-Bromoisoxazole binds to the estrogen receptor and is a potential treatment for prostate cancer. The molecule also interacts with the urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) and amide receptors, which may be responsible for its antihypertensive effect. The molecular modeling of this compound indicates that it contains an alkynyl group, which may be responsible for its anti-estrogenic activity. 3-Bromoisoxazole is a cholinergic agent that can inhibit cellular proliferation in cancer cells by inducing apoptosis.
