Bis(trimethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene is an organic semiconductor that has a light absorption band in the visible spectrum. It has been shown to have a number of applications, such as for optical data storage and for use in single-crystal x-ray diffraction. Bis(trimethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene can be synthesized by the reaction of 1,3,5-benzenetricarbonyl chloride with bis(dimethylamino)chlorobis(dimethyl phosphite) in dichloromethane at room temperature. This molecule has a molecular weight of 338.87 grams per mole and a melting point of -78 °C. Bis(trimethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene can also be used as an organic electronic material (EAM).
