5-Bromo-2-fluoro-3-nitropyridine is a hexane that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of sulphonates and photoelectron. It is also used to produce inorganic compounds such as sodium carbonate, thionyl chloride, and chlorine. 5-Bromo-2-fluoro-3-nitropyridine can be activated with ethanolamines to form condensation products with aluminium. This compound is labile, so it needs to be stored under inert gas or in a vacuum. It reacts rapidly with chlorine or aliphatic hydrocarbons at high temperatures.
