3,5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)iodobenzene is an aryl halide which is used in organic chemistry as a synthetic intermediate. It reacts with ethyl esters to form ethyl 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzoate. This compound has been shown to be effective in the treatment of infections caused by siderophores and long-term treatment of functional groups. The reaction vessel for this synthesis contains fluorine gas and oxone, which are rapidly converted to hydrofluoric acid and ozone respectively. The fluorescence lifetime of 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)iodobenzene is 1.1 nanoseconds, which can be measured using spectroscopic techniques (e.g., EPR).
