Bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) phosphite (BTP) is a functional group that can be used in the synthesis of bromoacetic acid from allyl carbonate. BTP is also used to produce phosphonates by reacting with an appropriate alcohol and phosphorus pentoxide. This compound is chiral and has been shown to exhibit high selectivity for the desired product.
