Bromo(3-Fluoro-4-Methoxyphenyl)-Magnesium is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme phosphoglucomutase. It has been shown to be an antihyperglycemic agent that can lower blood glucose levels in diabetic animals. Bromo(3-Fluoro-4-Methoxyphenyl)-Magnesium inhibits glucose transport into cells and blocks the conversion of glucose to glycogen. This drug also increases insulin sensitivity by decreasing the activity of protein kinase C, which regulates many aspects of cellular function, including insulin signaling. Bromo(3-Fluoro-4-Methoxyphenyl)-Magnesium is a sodium ion dependent drug, which means it will only work if there is sufficient sodium available in the cytoplasm of cells. The efficacy of this drug is also dose dependent, meaning that higher doses are needed for more severe cases.
