1,3-Thiazolane-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is a white crystalline powder. It is used in the treatment of infectious diseases such as hepatitis and can be combined with other drugs to treat cancer. 1,3-Thiazolane-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme catalysis site on the ribosome. The drug has been shown to have antiviral properties and can also cause liver damage when administered in high doses. This drug is reconstituted in water before use. 1,3-Thiazolane-2,4-dicarboxylic acid has been shown to have a polarizability of 2.5 Daltons and optical properties that are indicative of an acidic compound.
