Descrizione

Mearnsitrin is a flavonoid derivative that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of human liver cancer cells. It has been shown to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in vitro and also decreases the activity of certain enzymes such as acetylcholinesterase, phosphodiesterase and protein kinase C. Mearnsitrin may be useful for diabetic patients because it inhibits glucose uptake by cells and can also improve insulin sensitivity.
Mearnsitrin is a potent chemical, which is commonly used as a medicine or food additive. It's most common chemical form is protocatechuic acid, which can be found in plants such as wheat, apples, plums and onions. Flavonols are derivatives of this chemical that are found in many foods such as tea leaves, citrus fruits and berries like strawberries.
