3-Chloroaniline hydrochloride is an organic compound that has a hydroxyl group and a chlorine atom. It has the molecular formula CHClNO and a molecular weight of 111.25 g/mol. 3-Chloroaniline hydrochloride is soluble in methanol and sodium carbonate, but insoluble in water. It is used as a reagent in clinical pathology to measure serum creatinine, as well as being used as a wastewater treatment agent. 3-Chloroaniline hydrochloride has shown toxicity studies, with high doses causing hemolytic anemia, blood clotting disorders, and kidney damage. The activated form of the chemical can cause diazonium salt formation, which is linear and can be calibrated using pyrimidine compounds. 3-Chloroaniline hydrochloride is metabolized by the body into urea and other products that are excreted through urine or bile acids.
