5-Chlorobenzoxazole is a benzoxazolone drug substance that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemical compounds. It can be synthesized using a cross-coupling reaction with sodium amide and 5-chloroaniline, which requires high temperatures. This chemical is purified by liquid chromatography and characterized by NMR spectroscopy. 5-Chlorobenzoxazole has been shown to react with alkylsulfonyl halides to form heteroaryl groups, and can also be prepared synthetically from 6-membered aromatic compounds.
