Chidamide is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the activity of histone deacetylase enzymes. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, including lymphoma and leukemia. Chidamide also has significant cytotoxicity against human cell lines in vitro, with minimal toxicity in vivo. Chidamide's anti-cancer effects are mediated through inhibition of histone deacetylase enzymes and induction of apoptosis. This drug may be a promising candidate for treatment of cancers with high levels of histone deacetylase activity such as lymphoma and leukemia.
