2-Chloro-N-phenylacetamide is a fluorophore that can be used to detect hydrogen bonds in proteins. It has been used as a fluorescent probe for the study of the reaction products formed by quinoline derivatives with staphylococcus. The fluorescence properties of 2-Chloro-N-phenylacetamide have also been studied in cancer cells, as well as in the presence of chloride ions. This compound reacts with amide groups and is also an antibacterial agent.
