1-(Chloroacetyl)-4-phenylpiperazine (PCAP) is a piperazine-derived antiparasitic drug that inhibits the growth of malaria parasites. PCAP binds to the active site of plasmodium falciparum and prevents the conversion of host hemoglobin into hemozoin, which is toxic to the parasite. It also has been shown to act as a metabolic stability marker for use in screening for drug resistant strains of plasmodium falciparum.
