3-Chloro-4-methylphenyl)hydrazine hydrochloride is a medicinal compound that inhibits the replication of hepatitis C virus (HCV). It has been shown to inhibit HCV replication in vitro by binding to the polymerase active site and blocking RNA synthesis. 3-Chloro-4-methylphenyl)hydrazine hydrochloride also blocks the assembly of HCV replicons and reduces HCV NS5B polymerase activity. This drug has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis. 3-Chloro-4-methylphenyl)hydrazine hydrochloride is being developed as a potential anti-HIV agent.
